Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
Giorgia Meloni: “Quality Journalism Can Bring Our Countries Closer”
Italy’s Prime Minister welcomes the launch of La Stampa USA, highlighting the shared history, culture and democratic values that bind Italy and the United States.
It is a pleasure to welcome the launch of La Stampa USA, which will bring Italy’s voice, culture and businesses closer to American audiences.
Italy and the United States share a friendship rooted in history and in the values of freedom and democracy. The transatlantic bond is a cornerstone of our security and prosperity. Strengthening it means ensuring that Europe and America can face common challenges together, with unity and a shared sense of responsibility.
The Italian American community numbers approximately 28 million people and gives this bond a human face. Generations of Italians have helped build America, bringing with them courage and a deep attachment to their roots. Their achievements are a source of pride for both our nations.
As we mark Columbus Day, I would like to thank the National Italian American Foundation and the many Italian American organizations across the United States that keep this extraordinary heritage alive.
La Stampa USA can help renew this connection by telling the stories of our people and communities, introducing Italian businesses to new audiences, and promoting roots tourism — encouraging younger generations to discover the places their families came from.
Quality journalism brings our societies closer through knowledge and understanding. It makes a valuable contribution to a friendship that we must pass on to future generations, stronger than ever.
My best wishes to the journalists and everyone involved in this new venture.
